The purpose of outreach is the placement of articles, links, banner ads on Internet resources.

What is outreach and how does it work?

In this article, we will look at examples of how outreach works in link building, as well as important points that should be paid attention to get the maximum result.

His outreach work consists in building relationships with webmasters on the most favorable terms.

SEO Outreach can be divided into:

– Paid outreach – when we pay the webmaster for placing our article, link or banner on it;

– Conditionally free outreach – we do not pay for accommodation, but we bear the costs of preparing the content, the work of the outreach. In this case, the partner site is interested in the content that we can provide to it and does not take money for its placement. he is useful to his audience.

For outreach, we use the following tools:

Google

paid email from Google;

ahrefs;

scrapebox;

Straight arms.

Preparing a list of sites for outreach

A competent choice of sites for outreach is a pledge of a high percentage of responses and as a consequence of a large number of placements.

Where can I find relevant websites for outreach?

1. Analyze the backlinks of your competitors

The easiest and right way to do this is through ahrefs. You will receive a list of sites that exactly cooperate with your niche and the percentage of refusals will be minimal.

2. Just look in your hands on Google

Here you can use the search formulas. Let’s say you need to find blogs on cooking topics in English. To do this, in the search box, write “cookery in America” inurl: sponsored post.

Let’s decipher the formula: “cookery in America” – Google should show sites that contain the phrase “cookery in America” only in this sequence. If we write the same, but without the quotes, Google will show us the sites that contain the word cookery separately and America separately.

inurl: sponsored post – in the URL of the site there should be a phrase sponsored post. Can be replaced by intitle: sponsored post, then the sponsored post will be in the title. A full list of search formulas can be found on the Internet.

3. Use automated search on Google

With large amounts of search queries, the search should be automated. To do this, you can use a scrapebox or another parser.

Getting Outreach: Determining the Purpose of the Campaign

By collecting a list of interesting sites, we collect the database of contacts (e-mail addresses, links to the contact form, etc.) with the help of the parser.

Next, we make a brief analysis of placements on these sites. Pay attention to who is referring to the site of interest to us, the nature of the article (advertisement, review or information article), etc.

Based on the information received, we determine the outreach company’s goals:

Type of placement: article, banner, link placement;

Cost of accommodation: free or paid

The key point: we prepare templates

The template of the first letter is your face, it will form the first impression of you and it should be done as competently, efficiently and with due regard for the goals of the outreach campaign.

Depending on the volume of messages sent, we prepare several templates.

When sending, we personalize the templates to increase the percentage of responses and reduce the likelihood of the letter getting into spam.

For example, in a subject of the letter it is necessary to specify a name of a site, and as to address to the web master by name if it is known.
Mailing of letters

On the basis of the collected contacts, we send out letters. If the site has a feedback form you need to use it first.

Have patience: not everyone will answer right away

You may not be responsible for different reasons. First of all, it’s worth remembering that you write to living people and not all of them work 24/7. For example, a person could simply go on vacation, get sick or simply forget to respond.

Often, as in the example below, even webmasters who expressed an interest in cooperation earlier do not answer.

So, if within a few days you were not answered, then we send one of these templates:

“Any updates?”
“My manager will not let me stop the following up with you until I get a response”
You can prepare a more personalized template, but these concise templates work well. Repeat several times depending on the interest in the site.

If it is very important to reach a webmaster, you need to look for other channels (Facebook, Skype) or ask a colleague to write from another mail. To speed up the webmaster, as in the example below, there should be enough messages on Facebook.

Concretize arrangements

After the first answer, it is worthwhile to clarify all the important points, if you did not learn about them from the first answer:

perpetual link or with one-year payment;

link dofollow or nofollow;

link and anchor;

topic of the article (if you write it), the number of words, the quality of the images;

terms of publication of the article;

prepayment or payment after publication (best option);

whether discount is possible;

We put the TK copywriter

Now that we have all the necessary information, we put the TK on the copywriter text (if the text was not prepared in advance). By experience I will say that a couple of harvested texts are not superfluous.

In the TK copywriter it is important to convey all the requirements of the site, to show an example of a suitable article. This will save time on finalizing content.

Accommodation and quality control

We send the prepared article to the webmaster. Sometimes it is worth recalling more than once about posting an article to a webmaster. An example of such a case is given below.

Accommodation and quality control

In this particular case, more than once had to read about the fact that the article will soon be published and is being edited now. However, it was not for nothing that our article was published with what the webmaster congratulated us with joy.

After this, you need to monitor the quality of the posted article.

The checklist consists of the following items:

anchor and URL links;

link attributes (dofollow or nofollow);

indexing of the page (noindex in meta robots);

the presence of other references not specified earlier in the article;

checking the appearance of the article, the presence of images

If everything is normal, then we thank the webmaster for posting.

Since the webmaster can change our link, delete the link or even the entire article after a while, we use the Link Checker PRO service for monitoring.

Finally

The key elements of outreach organization are the competent selection of sites, precise definition of the campaign objectives, writing templates and the ability to negotiate with bloggers and journalists.

Important for achieving the goal of outreach is the ability to correctly place the TK on the texts of the copywriter. this significantly affects the speed of posting articles.

Correctly organized outreach will allow you to obtain organic links in articles on trust sites, which is very important for the successful implementation of SEO strategy.

You tell a story.

Whether you know it or not, did you intend to do it, but … you unequivocally narrate the story.

Everything you do to market your business is embodied in one more item, page or chapter of the story that people hear from you. It is your story that people will hear that will become one according to which they will act (or remain idle), and also tell (or not tell) it to others.

Perhaps you still do not realize how, and most importantly, to whom, tell your stories. But purposeful narration is a sign of great novelists, screenwriters, playwrights, and purposeful marketing stories are a sure sign of the excellent content of the marketer.

So why not tell your stories purposefully? Next, you will learn how to do it.

1. Learn and understand your audience

This is the main factor in the struggle for the attention of your target audience.

What do you need to know? You need to know who she admires, what she strives for, whom she despises, fears or cherishes. Instead of inventing material that you might like readers to like, compose and tell the story to one or more of the typical representatives of your target audience.

Understanding your readers at such a deep level is important for creating a portrait of your client. It will also help you become part of the market where your efforts are directed. As a result, you can create a more unique story and easily take the lead in your tribe.

Perhaps you are afraid of the term “research”, but this is the basis of any smart marketing plan. The more time you spend in order to understand the people you are addressing, the better story you will tell them.

2. Choose your language templates (how to submit information)

When you know your audience well, you can “tune in to one wave with it” and look at the world with its eyes. You can understand the worldview and those things that your audience believes. As a result, you will be able to build your story so that it will resonate as much as possible with their values. Only this factor will allow you to stand out against the background of competitors and become much closer to your readers.

Consider these concepts (world views of different people), which differ only in the choice of words:

businessman

conscientious student, honors pupil, botanist.

These are the extremes to which you do not need to resort to adjust to the beliefs and outlook of your audience. For example, the simple word “green” can cause those strong reactions and associations among environmentalists who will never arise in the majority of people.

Building your story against one polar opposite, you, by definition, will cause sympathy of one part of the audience, and the other will make you ignore or even despise you. This is not only normal, but even necessary. Most likely, you will never be able to drag your fierce opponents to your side, but your adherents will share your content and help you get inside their community. Hence your growth and development comes.

3. Select your message

A message is a way that you choose to tell your story. At the same time, readers must come to the conclusion that you need. This is a report of your story with increasing tension and one or more vivid characters that will help you achieve your goals.

it’s a bait, a cornerstone, a purple cow (see Seth Godin’s “Purple Cow”);

this is the difference between a good story and an ignored story;

this is an obvious path from attention to action.

You need to find a link between the beliefs and outlook of your audience and how you can file it for them. Think about your favorite novel or film … the same information could have been conveyed in a different way, but it was already not the same. In fact, we retell the same stories for centuries, some just do it better than others.

When it comes to copywriting and storytelling, your message determines the difference between success and failure (between good and great).

Content Marketing as a Storytelling

“Success in marketing is achieved when a sufficient number of people with similar views come together in a way that allows marketers to achieve their goals in a cost-effective way” – Seth Godin.

This is what allows you to achieve content marketing. More precisely, if done right, this is the most cost-effective (and most effective) online marketing method ever created.

Even more than that, people do not just get together, they gather around you.

The techniques described work both for a single blog, and for selling pages. But, more importantly, it also works as a general positioning of content and marketing messages that you will create over time, based on feedback from your audience.

People like how you write, but they do not fan your texts? They find your articles useful, but they read them without pleasure?

Even to yourself, your very best texts do not seem so steep. You put your soul into them, but you still feel it – it’s not quite what you would like.

Perhaps your texts lack something special. Just remember. When you read your favorite authors, their ideas seem so clear to you, so clear, so simple … They are firmly deposited in your head. But with your texts exactly this does not happen.

Let’s see what they do not have. Maybe this? …

Super tool that you are afraid to use

Every successful entrepreneur who uses a blog to promote his business always has many tools. Some are tame as chisels, others are more serious and work automatically like a drill.

By the way, about the latter. Of course, they would greatly facilitate your work at home. But, if you are not a pro (especially women now understand me), you may even be afraid to use them. You do not know how to handle them properly. And sometimes you do not even know how they turn on. However, once you understand it, your life will be easier.

Why am I doing this? Yes to the fact that copywriting also has such tools. And one of them, the least used, is an analogy.

Here’s what it is: “Comparison of one concept with another in order to explain the meaning of this concept.”

Or even so: “When we talk about the thing X, we mean Y and use their similar features, although, at first glance, there is no relationship between them.”

I will give some examples:

To publish content on holidays is how to teach a child to swim in a storm.

To write to a blog that does not have an audience is how to teach in an empty classroom.

To be at work that you hate is like being a fish thrown out of the water.
teach in an empty classroom

If you read a lot, then you can remember a lot of examples simply because such comparisons are almost visual and firmly settle in your head. Do you think it’s worth trying this tool in your texts?

Why do analogies do double work in less time?

The strength of analogies is that they use all familiar and understandable things to explain new ones.

So why do analogies work cool? There are 3 reasons.

1. Analogies attract attention

Analogies help to explain complex or complex concepts with the help of those that are close to the reader. They convey a new idea without immersing themselves in the intellectual jungle.

For example, in physics, current flow through wires is often compared with the flow of water through a pipe. Do water and current have something in common? No! Moreover, when mixing water and current, you know what is going on. However, in this context, they are quite similar in order to be used in comparison.

2. Analogies change the point of view

Many entrepreneurs work tirelessly on their texts when they do not yet have a fairly decent audience. At the same time, they are sure that this is an inevitable stage and “we just need to wait a little”. And readers will soon pull themselves up.

Do you remember the analogy I gave at the beginning of this article? To write texts for a zero audience is how to teach in an empty classroom.

Strong, is not it? A teacher who explains the material in front of an empty audience … It looks at least strange. Nevertheless, thousands of entrepreneurs do so constantly. And they wait until the “disciples” find them themselves, without even trying to “leave the classroom” and come to their audience.

This analogy makes it possible to look at the situation from another angle, from which everything looks not so rosy at all. That is why analogies are so convincing: they use truthful facts about one concept in relation to another. They allow you to look at the subject differently.

3. Analogies – enemies of boredom

Analogies make your texts brighter, clearer and more interesting. People love unexpected connections and comparisons. It activates the imagination and allows you to keep the audience in good shape. For example, blogging without a strategy can be compared to a fight with a blindfold. Just one capacious comparison – and you immediately understood what was meant, was not it?

Experienced teachers often use analogies in their lessons. Not only because it simplifies the understanding of the material. But also because it makes lessons more alive.

The main idea is that the perception of a new material is hard work. And if the material is also dry and uninteresting, then no one can perceive it as it should be. A capacious analogy in this case is an effective remedy.

How to find the ideal analogy

I admit, it is difficult. And often the most interesting and effective analogies are so obvious that they are the hardest to find. Of course, in a fit of inspiration it’s easy. But is it worth always to rely on your muse?

Now I will tell you a secret that will allow you to find a cool analogy in just 3 steps.

1. List the distinctive features of the concept X

How can you describe what you are writing about? For example, you are blogging about building a career. And they decided to write a post about a painful period when you work in one company, but you are already looking for another place.

So, you tell me how to write a resume at lunch time. How they disappeared to answer the calls of the new employer, while trying at the very least to fulfill their duties at their current work. What are the distinguishing features of this situation?

For example:

Secrecy. As a rule, you do not put colleagues (and even more so the authorities) in the knowledge that you are looking for a new job.
Secret meetings. You leave work early to attend an interview, thinking up the unimaginable reasons for your absence.
Guilt. You feel uncomfortable, because you have to be not completely honest with others. But you do not see any other way out.

2. Try to find concepts with the same characteristics

For each feature of the concept X, find another concept that has the same characteristics.

Given the example above, please reply:

What other situations require secrecy?

When else do you have to lie about where you are and what you are doing?

In what other situations do you feel guilty?

I come to mind the following:

Work as a government spy. Here, too, secrecy is needed. You have to lie to friends and relatives about where you were and what you were doing at a certain time. There is a sense of guilt from conducting a double life.

Preparing a surprise for the birthday. You do not want the birthday boy to learn about the upcoming surprise. You have to secretly meet with friends, order a restaurant, buy gifts and so on. You partly feel guilty (even though you do not do anything wrong).

The affair is on the side. You do not want the second half to find out about this. You are deceiving to cover up your adventures. The sense of guilt is absolutely natural.

3. Test the analogy and look for other similarities and differences

Once you have picked up the options, find the differences between the two concepts and consider whether they can destroy the analogy.

For example, work by a government spy is not very suitable. This is not a short-term situation, like job search. Is this a strong difference and can it destroy the analogy? Maybe. The difference is also that if you are a government spy, then you do not need to hide your affairs from your superiors. This really weakens the analogy and can embarrass the reader.

The second situation is similar to the search for a new job, because this is also a short-term period. But unlike the search for work, party planning is not a search for something new.

And what about the intrigue on the side? You can say that this is, rather, not the search for a new job, but additional work elsewhere. But sometimes the intrigues turn into a new marriage. So, these situations have something similar. There are other similarities: for example, the scenario develops similarly if you are caught. At work, you are likely to be fired, and your second half is likely to leave you.

So, this is the most suitable analogy of the 3 found. It’s not perfect, but it’s good enough. Should I look further?

3 indicators of incorrect analogy

Choosing the right comparison from several options is a real art. But there are 3 indicators that none of your ideas are 100% fit:

2 concepts have more differences than similarities;

2 concepts are similar to most points of view, but in the main they are different;

The concept that you use as an analogy is too long to explain or difficult to understand.

The key here is this: try to analyze whether the analogy of the situation makes it clearer and easier to understand or better at all without it?

3 ways to use the analogy at full power

When you are already used to this new instrument, remember 3 simple rules:

1. Transfer abstract concepts to life

Some ideas are very difficult to understand, because they are completely abstract. For example, the very concept of “conveying an idea to others” is an abstract one. How can I describe it? Using an analogy, you can compare it with the assembly of furniture Ikea. Assembling furniture, the detail by detail is a more tangible concept, and it has much in common with “assembling” an idea in someone’s head.

2. Use strong emotions from another context

Sometimes the advantage of analogy is not the knowledge of the concept used for comparison, but the emotion it brings. For example, a singer who has lost his voice and can no longer rejoice the audience can be compared to a superhero who has lost his abilities.

Find the right analogy. Then the feelings and emotions will explain your idea better than any words.

3. Be simple – explain with humor

Have you ever heard the concept of a “seagull manager”? This is the manager who flies in, makes a lot of noise, crap at all and flies away. I think you all can remember this character.

Sometimes the correct analogy brings humor even in the driest and most uninteresting text. Classical analogies are hard to find – that’s why this technique is suitable only for strong authors. But if you find a gift to look for excellent analogies – people will quote you for years.

Unpack, turn on and go!

Analogy is one of the most powerful tools. This is a real puncher in the arsenal of any author. Yes, they need to be treated competently. But if you remember all the chips that I told you about, finding an analogy will be as easy as using a screwdriver.
